My girlfriends and I sprinted at the Singapore airport, trying our best not to miss the connecting flight. Our leisure airport shopping and a comical series of events caused the absent-mindedness and delay.
I reminisced these moments of my bachelorette trip to Bali while I watched Sex and the City a few days ago. The time flies by, but the travel memories stay with us!
Itโs been more than three years since that incredible holiday with my girl gang, but we remember those days from time to time.
Traveling experiences are so fulfilling, isnโt it?
Traveling is the calling for all, no matter how you feel- Ecstatic, stuck, burned out, or downright sad.
To celebrate, to unwind, to adventures, or just to explore!
PLANNING THE TRAVEL
I envision the destination I am traveling to, which gets me excited and helps me plan the itinerary imagining all the things I would be doing there.
I invest a lot of my time and research into holiday planning because it is fun to get the feel of the place virtually before I visit.
I look forward to getting the birdโs view from the flight during landing. It is the first impression of the location for me.
It reminds me of how disappointed I was when I saw the murky waters in Cairns, Australia, while landing. Nevertheless, I loved Cairns! It is gorgeous and definitely, a must-visit! Just the weather back then wasnโt so favorable!
We all have different opinions and likings when it comes to going on a holiday. Here are a few reasons that make me look forward to traveling.
Traveling makes us see the world that is entirely different from ours.
I like this part of travel of exploring the unknown. To live the life on the other side in person besides seeing it through the lens of Instagram. Escaping reality makes the experience thrilling and fulfilling. Often we value our own life and home more after traveling to another place and seeing how living could be there!
Good food completes a perfect holiday
โThe belly rules the mindโ- A Spanish proverb but accurate. When I think about travel, the first thing that crosses my mind is food- The Local Food. Discovering new food while on the road is so exciting. I dislike eating from fast-food chains on holiday. One exception to this could be Mc Donaldโs when abroad as they would have a different menu catering to the local tastes, which makes it intriguing.
Relishing the popular dishes of the place is a must-do!
It doesnโt necessarily have to be about discovering new food, but the same food we have eaten plenty of times before tastes better when tried locally. Their flavors are so authentic.
Like I have eaten a lot of gelatos, but nothing comes close to what I ate in Italy! After all, Italy is famous for its gelatos!
Exploring the location on foot
I believe that the best way to tour the location is on foot.! Rahul and I love walking while traveling. We walk till our legs give up! The fun of people watching, discovering food nooks and new places is left behind when we use transportation to take us places. It is not possible to Google every single thing. I enjoy discovering new things by myself.
Small things that make a difference
I love to return home with a fridge magnet as a souvenirโmy way of reliving the travel memories now and then.
Besides exploring food, viewpoints, and things to do, I love shopping from local boutiques! I love to check out the quaint local stores! This is the only time I like window shopping whether I intend to purchase or not.
Every travel is a learning experience
Traveling brings out the best in me. It challenges me to do things I wouldnโt consider doing otherwise. And for this, the credit goes to Rahul, too, not just the travel location! I love water, but I am always hesitant to jump into the deep waters because I donโt know to swim.
However, so far, I have done snorkeling, kayaking, and a failed attempt at scuba diving, which I look forward to taking up again in the future.
I know it is not a big deal! But I felt so accomplished each time to overcome my fears and limitations, which isnโt always easy.
Each time I try to push myself a little more. And I do realize that most of that fear is just in mind.
Getting out of your comfort zone can be exhilarating! Travel makes me observe and reflect on things.
The thought of, โIf not now, then when?โ makes me do it! โฆ. Followed by a little prayer to keep me alive while I take up the adventures.
Connecting with the world
Getting familiar with the many different cultures around the world is fascinating.; When I talk to people I meet like the uber driver, the concierge, or just the barista, I learn a little about every conversation- about the place, their day, or just about life!
It is wonderful how people who speak different languages and live across the globe are similar to us.
Seize the moment
Amongst all the landscapes, I find waterfront locations very serene! A beach destination is always perfect, or any lowkey waterfront location in a city also works.
While I do try to capture everything that pleases the eye, I also like to enjoy the moment without doing anything. The sound of waves crashing on the rocks or the shore is very calming. The summer breeze hitting the face and sinking my toes into the soft sand is blissful!
There is so much to travel than just checking off the โTop 10 things to see and doโ and clicking Instagram-worthy pictures.
What part of traveling excites you? Do you agree or relate with mine?
Maybe I am missing something, and your memories bring back mine. Do tell!
