Did you try every skincare rule in the book and yet breaking out often? Check if you are doing any of the following things that could be causing skin breakouts.
WHAT CAUSES ACNE?
Change Pillowcase OFTEN
When was the last time you changed your pillowcase or bedsheet? The entire days’ worth of dirt, air pollutants, and grimy hair go on the sheet.
This is what you sleep on every night, which causes skin problems like acne, rashes, etc. So, please change those pillowcases often. If you are one-of-a-kind like me who does not use a pillow or if you can’t change your sheets often, then place a clean towel or a pillowcase under your head while sleeping
Watch what you eat
Brownies were my best friend until I realized how much sugar and flour affect not just my body fat but also my skin.
As much as you might love sugar and refined carbs, it’s time for you to take a break from them and notice the difference.
I am trying to adopt a more sugar-free diet and have noticed a considerable difference. Also, refrain from oily food and junk snacks as much as possible.
I often treat myself to a dessert or my favorite bag of chips when I can’t let go of my cravings! But portion control is the key factor here!
Dispose of OLd Makeup products and CLean brushes
I loved my blush until I realized that’s it’s causing few rashes. I noticed that the product had expired a long time ago. I know how much you love those makeup products you have been hoarding for years but remember that it’s causing way more harm than doing any good.
Clean your makeup brushes regularly too. All the bacteria-harboring on these products need to be discarded and washed respectively.
Picking your skin constantly
Stop touching your face or picking at those pimples (guilty!) All the bacteria and dirt on your fingers are now on your face causing skin irritations.
One evening before leaving for a party, I got irritated and decided to pick at my pimple until all the gunk came out. It wouldn’t stop bleeding, and then it left a big ugly mark on my face, which lead to scarring.
Had I resisted my compulsive urge to pick my pimple, it would have healed by itself. After that, never again!
We must remember not to let the hands bring all the bacteria and dust to our faces. This is a prevalent cause to trigger breakouts.
Sleeping with makeup
This is the biggest sin of skincare.
Only in case of dire circumstances can I imagine this to be okay. Get rid of every bit of grime and makeup on your face. You must have read how I stress about this in my skincare regimen blog post too.
Hair Care Products can cause acne
I noticed small bumps on my forehead after using my hair spray. That’s when I realized hair care products can cause breakouts as they have oil in the products.
This oil clogs the pores which leads to acne. Cover your face while using any hair styling products.
Washing towels more often
For those who wonder if you need to use a separate towel for your face, the answer is a YES! You cannot wipe your face with the same towel you wipe your butt.
Wash your face towel at least every other day because the minute you wipe your face with it, it starts accumulating tons of bacteria! Face being more sensitive than the rest of your body can trigger skin reactions.
You can use your body towels 2-3 times. Do not hang your towels to dry in the bathroom. The humidity can make it damp, which isn’t good.
Don’t overdo your skincare
Are you experimenting with a lot of skincare products you read online?
Don’t go overboard with the chemical peels, numerous scrubs, peel-off masks, and other products. I can assure you it is not worth it! Neither the time nor the money spent on these.
Try and understand your skin type, use the products only suitable for your skin, and be gentle.
Check products or surfaces you regularly encounter, which can have bacteria and dirt that may contribute to acne breakouts. Even your phone can have bacteria, so before answering that call, just wipe down your screen.
All these things might seem very silly and quickly forgotten, but it is worthwhile and has made a massive difference to my skin.
There is no such thing as Best Skincare Routine. A lot of factors contribute to healthy skin.
Have you noticed any other reason causing skin damages, which we usually tend to ignore or maybe oblivious to?
